Souastre is a quiet little country village in the south of the Artois area, bordering “Poppy Country”, where the Battle of the Somme took place in 1916. Souastre is thus ideally located to visit the Remembrance Trail, which includes the Somme Battlefield Museum in Albert, the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial, the Thiepval Memorial, the Australian Memorial in Pozières, or the Lochnagar Crater in La Boisselle.
The Louvre-Lens museum is 35min away, and Amiens is even closer (30min). In Amiens you can visit the famous marshes called the “hortillonnages”, or the cathedral on the UNESCO world heritage list. You are also very close to the superb Arras squares (20min), where you can go up the belfry, and to the Wellington Quarry WWI heritage site.
